On the latest episode of Bendy Bodies Podcast, I spoke with Dr. Jessica Eccles about a pattern we don’t talk about enough: pain masking in hypermobility.

We often talk about masking in ADHD and autism - but many hypermobile patients are doing the same thing with physical pain.

It can look like:➡️ pushing through daily discomfort➡️ minimizing or downplaying symptoms➡️ assuming “this is just normal”

Over time, masking pain becomes automatic.
So automatic that it can delay diagnosis, support, and care.

And when you’ve spent years overriding your body’s signals…it can be hard to recognize what pain even feels like anymore.

This is why so many patients are missed - not because the symptoms aren’t there, but because they’ve learned to hide them.

These conversations matter - because recognizing pain is the first step to actually treating it.

💬 Question for you: Have you ever realized you were minimizing or masking your own pain?
