Did you know that local anesthetics can sometimes fail in people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD)?

On today’s episode of @bendy_bodies, I explain why this happens and what you can do about it. Many patients with EDS or HSD report that dental numbing, epidurals, or lidocaine injections can take longer to work, wear off faster, or just don’t work at all.

This isn’t psychological—connective tissue differences can alter how anesthetics diffuse through tissue and reach nerve endings.

💡 My advice: always tell your dentist, surgeon, or anesthesiologist about your diagnosis and previous anesthetic experiences.

Document what works and what doesn’t so you can guide your future care.
