Some people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), or other CTD seek out chiropractic adjustments hoping for relief. But according to @ladyspinedoc in today’s episode of @bendy_bodies, the reality is complicated.

There’s little evidence that chiropractic manipulation can “fix” spinal deformities — and in some cases, it can even be dangerous. High-velocity neck manipulations, in particular, can pose serious risks for people with connective tissue disorders, including vascular injury.

That doesn’t mean all chiropractic care is off-limits. Gentle, evidence-informed approaches may still be useful for pain relief or muscle support. The key is working with providers who truly understand the vulnerabilities that come with hypermobility.
